To Care and To Love: Verbs for History Books as Yet Unwritten

Love is the thread that connects our six UU values and motivates us to manifest them in the world. But what is the nature of this love? Is it a feeling that turns itself off and on with the fluctuations of our emotional environment? Or is it an action word -- a verb? In this tag-team event, Jac Starkey will share about his experience of love as a verb, and Bob Clegg will then share about how we can most effectively love -- or care for -- other human beings (and ourselves) in our neighborhoods in a time such as this.
Jac Starkey is active in both our ASWUU congregation and also the Society of Friends (Quakers). He is a member of the Social Justice Committee at ASWUU and serves as our congregation's liaison to the South Carolina Unitarian Universalist Justice Alliance (SCUUJA). Jac and his wife live in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Bob Clegg is the worship coordinator at ASWUU. He volunteers with East Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) in Myrtle Beach, and he is a team lead on economic justice issues with SCUUJA. Bob lives with his wife Connie near Conway, SC.
The service will begin at 11:00 am. The service will be available on Facebook Live for those who wish to participate remotely. Go to the ASWUU Facebook page and click the Live link.
We will have a social hour after the service where the coffee, snacks and conversation are always rich. You may bring a dish to share if you would like to do so.
