Voter Empowerment: Teaching People to Fish
Click to view the full calendar!

Voter empowerment is one of the make-or-break issues in the ongoing project of democracy in America. This morning's speaker will share her experience in training women to run for office, helping ordinary citizens understand the importance of their vote, and training and motivating ordinary citizens to empower voters to exercise all of their rights and responsibilities as citizens. The message's subtitle, "Teaching People to Fish," comes from the fact that we not only need to get ourselves to the polls come election day, but that if we put in the work by casting our nets wide, we will bring a lot of others to the polls with us.
Kristi Burch is the Political Action Committee Co-chair for the Myrtle Beach NAACP and formerly worked with Women in Leadership SC, a nonprofit that trains women to run for political office.
The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be available on Facebook Live. To participate remotely, go to the ASWUU Facebook page and click the Live link.
We have a social hour after the service with food, coffee, and conversation. You may bring a dish to share if you would like to do so.
