Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Shay is sharing something a little personal — the story of how they became an activist. Spoiler: they never saw it coming.

In "The Unlikely Activist," Rev. Shay Vetter will talk about their own journey into activism and, more importantly, how ALL of us can make a difference in everyday, practical ways, including small, easy actions that you can use in your own life.

Shay Vetter is an author and advocate for equality and integrity. After years in evangelical missionary and seminary work, Shay witnessed firsthand how systems of faith can both inspire and harm. Their journey of deconstruction led them to a UU fellowship, where they found belonging and purpose. They’re also the award-winning author of the Eclipse Arts series and a visible presence in Myrtle Beach’s protest and civic action circles.

The service will begin at 11am and will be available on Facebook Live. To participate remotely, go to the ASWUU Facebook page and click the Live link.

We will have a social hour after the service for coffee, snacks and conversation. You may bring a dish to share if you would like to do so.
