Interfaith Harmony: Working Towards Peace
The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Coastal Carolina University is pleased to launch its spring series, "Voices of South Carolina Spirituality" with Interfaith Harmony: Working Toward Peace on Saturday, January 24, 10 am to noon in the Alford Ballroom, Athenaeum Hall 105. This program is free and the public is invited to participate.
In collaboration with Interfaith Partners of South Carolina, an educational panel will feature a diverse group of local faith community leaders who will share their faith's teachings about peace. They will also discuss activities and practices that help people work for peace in their families, neighborhoods, communities and the world. This year's program is especially timely as the Buddhist monks from Texas Walk for Peace cross South Carolina on their way to Washington, DC.
Local faith groups planning to participate include Baháʼí , Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Unitarian, Unity and the Waccamaw tribe sharing indigenous teachings. The President of Interfaith Partners of S.C., Holli Emore, will also participate.
