The Alignment of Proverbs and Aphorisms with Universal Truth and Wisdom
All of us have heard simple truths stated as fact since our youth: "A penny saved is a penny earned," "Don't cry over spilt milk," "Honesty is the best policy." Such proverbs, while simple, can also be elegant, summing up vast swaths of universal truth. This Sunday we will explore a range of such aphorisms and examine their connection to the wellspring of human wisdom that enables us to live better lives.
Speaker Carli Harlow is a long-time Unitarian Universalist, chairs the ASWUU board of trustees, and has served as worship weaver for our congregation for seven years. We welcome her back to the pulpit this week.
